Around the time that Tamu joined the Pridelanders, another pride was formed around the Outlands. The lead lioness mated with a male, and gave birth to two cubs, Barafu and Uzima. One day, the pride was took over by a group of rebellious males, who killed killed Barafu and Uzima's mother, and sent their father far away.
Unlike the other cubs, who were killed by the males, Uzima and Barafu were spared for unknown reasons. Scared, angry, and afraid, the two cubs were forced to marry the lead male's son, Chuki, despite their pleas and prevails. They stayed in the pride until they were young teens, as they saw that young cubs who left their prides usually never survived. The males turned Barafu into a cold hearted lion, however, she still loved her sister and wanted to get out of the place. Eventually, Barafu and Uzima escaped the pride, and ran as far away as they could.
Eventually, they wounded up in the outskirts of the Pridelands, and decided to stay there, as they knew that Mohatu would possibly kill lions from a rival's pride. One day, a young lioness found her way into their territory, and they had fight. However, once the two lionesses backed off, the lioness introduced herself as 'Tamu'. She asked the two lionesses if they would assist her on her journey to find a male. Barafu told Uzima that she would never trust Mohatu's pride, but Uzima told her sister that they may also find a handsome male, and the two finally settled and went with her.
Much like the rest of Tamu's gang, they eventually found mates before her, and Uzima was one of the first to leave. Despite the pleas of her sister, Barafu stayed with Tamu, and the two grew close. However, right at the end of the road, Barafu met a handsome male named Hikara, who wanted her in his pride. Barafu told Tamu her goodbyes, and left with the male.
